The American rating agency AviRate awarded the company a 5-star rating as the best airline in the world in 2018, which it has maintained to this day. According to the Skytrax awards for 2016, it was recognized as the best airline in Europe for the sixth consecutive time. In addition, it received high ratings in many areas. Turkish Airlines, a member of Star Alliance, operates flights to 335 cities and 340 airports in 127 countries, of which 53 are domestic and 287 are international. Thanks to this extensive flight network, it is the airline flying to the most countries in the world. Furthermore, Turkish Airlines owns 50% of the shares of SunExpress, based in Antalya, 49% of the shares of B&H, based in Sarajevo, and 49.12% of the shares of Air Albania, based in Tirana. It is also the owner of AJet, based in Istanbul. Turkish Airlines carried 61.2 million passengers in 2015, 75.2 million in 2018, 74.3 million in 2019, 28 million in 2020, 44.8 million in 2021, 83.4 million in 2023, and 85.2 million in 2024.
