Mosques and Places of Worship
About
Since 2007, the mosque has been conducting courses for the visually impaired. This work began at the request of a regular mosque attendee, the visually impaired Venera Ape, who had a strong desire to study Islam. As a result, for the last 6 years, the "Suleiman" mosque has been working in three areas: rehabilitation courses, publishing books for the visually impaired, and providing assistance to socially vulnerable groups of the population. To carry out this work, the Educational and Rehabilitation Center for the Visually Impaired, the Publishing Center for the Blind "Nur," and the Social Assistance Center "Ikram" were established. Over six years of operation of the Educational and Rehabilitation Center for the Visually Impaired at the "Suleiman" mosque, about 700 people from various regions of Russia have studied in the courses: Tatarstan, Bashkortostan, Nizhny Novgorod region, Samara region, Ulyanovsk region, Chechnya, Dagestan, Ingushetia, Udmurtia, Mari El, Tyumen region, Stavropol region, and other regions of the country. In addition, over the past six years, the Rehabilitation Center has operated a publishing house where thousands of books in the L. Braille system (a special system necessary for reading by the visually impaired) have been printed. In 2008, the "Suleiman" mosque was the only Muslim organization in the ranking of the best organizations in Russia when receiving the National Public Award in the field of volunteering - 2008 in the nomination "Volunteering in Religious Organizations." The "Suleiman" mosque became the first Muslim organization to receive this award. Besides working with the visually impaired, the mosque also worked with the deaf-mute, orphans, large families, single mothers, pensioners, and other socially vulnerable groups.
